The Pediatric Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator assumes responsibility for the coordination of the pediatric trauma PI activities for Upstate Golisano Childrens’ Hospital’s Verified Level I Trauma Program encompassing all areas of patient care from prehospital to discharge. Responsibilities include tasks related to quality initiatives for the Pediatric Trauma PI Committee including the recognition and assessment of care concerns and the development of corrective action measures to ensure loop closure. This position monitors PI indicators as outlined by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT), Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Department of Health (DOH) and hospital criteria; and initiates and directs action plans on identified PI indicators in order to uphold the standards to maintain Level 1 Verification. The Pediatric Trauma PI Coordinator creates and runs reports with emphasis on trends, changes in activity and data and assists with the validation of the trauma registry. The Pediatric Trauma PI Coordinator manages/coordinates process of monthly and real time chart reviews and quality initiatives for Trauma PI Committee. The Pediatric trauma PI coordinator attends trauma rounds and interacts with entities of the Pediatric Trauma Team, Trauma team liaisons, other teams such as the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Nursing, Adult Trauma Team, the Burn team and Hospital Administration. The Pediatric Trauma PI Coordinator will be active in the local, regional and state Trauma Advisory Committees. |

This will include quarterly data collection and submission, as well as reporting and analysis of operational efficiency, workload service intensity, and labor productivity. The position performs analytical and evaluative work which measures and quantifies the impact and effectiveness of hospital-wide programs. Will conduct data cleansing, uploading and querying of benchmarking data. Requires active participation in the Vizient Operational Database Program including implementing new methodologies and changes, providing input and responses to peer hospitals, and reporting on required primary and secondary measures. Responsible for meeting with hospital department managers and directors to collect, review, and present benchmarking data and results, as well as train end-users on technical and operational applications. The applicant will manage the preparation and oversight of oncology treatments.
