Job Summary: The Senior Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the review of medical records documentation, conducting interviews, facilitating group meetings and analyzing data collected to make preliminary determinations regarding the standards of care provided. Duties include: review of reportable events based on standards set by the NYS Department of Health and DNV. Major focus for this position will be the management of medical malpractice case reviews, conducting and documenting quality of care reviews; interface with Physician Advisors and trial Legal Counsel; work in conjunction with Patient Relations and Quality Departments; Support New York State Department of Health onsite visits. Coordinates meetings between Legal and Trial Counsel with State employees. Identifies opportunities for quality improvement initiatives and assisting with and/or conducting failure mode effect analysis - (FMEA's) as assigned by Director. Other duties will include; Assisting and/or facilitating root cause analysis of assigned cases, utilizing the approved format. Evaluate assigned mortality reviews. Performing chart assessment and review of patient care evaluation studies as assigned for internal and external risk reviews (DOH and DNV Complaints; OPD Licensed Health Care Professional Reporting). Coordinates appropriate benchmarking projects. Coordinates data abstraction and submission as appropriate. Represents Risk Management as assigned at committees. Participates in quality assurance and risk activities in other areas as assigned. Applies time management skills to ensure duties are completed as per policy and protocol.  
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered RN (or eligible) required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or healthcare related field) and three years post licensure acute care RN experience OR Associates degree in Nursing and 5 years post licensure acute care RN experience required. Excellent clinical decision making skills, communication skills (both verbally and written), customer service skills required for interface with health care providers, and regulatory agencies including other health care related entities. Competent in Microsoft Office products, EPIC, and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with RN ICU experience, quality review experience and/or familiarity with DOH Regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
Work Days:

Monday-Friday, days (7:30am-4:00pm)
