Job Summary: The Outpatient Dietitian performs a variety of specialized duties related to nutrition counseling of patients/families for Medical Nutrition Therapy and or Diabetes Self-Management Education. Outpatient Dietitian provides a comprehensive assessment of the patient's nutrition status through anthropometrics, diet history, labs, past medical history, emotional/social issues etc. to analyze and provide appropriate nutritional therapy. Outpatient develops realistic, measurable goals to manage the patient's nutrition/diabetes plan. Documents interactions with patient in patient education record according to the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognition standards. Outpatient Dietitian will understand billing practices, bill for appropriate services-based Level of Service, duration of counseling conducted. Outpatient Dietitian will participate in monthly staff meetings to review and revise department quality initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE).  Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration) and licensed as a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist in New York State on hire or within six (6) months of hire required.  Minimum two years experience in healthcare as a Registered Dietitian. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree with preferred area of Nutrition or related field.

Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician or other certifications in Pediatrics or Adult Nutrition:

Board Certification as a Specialty in Pediatric Nutrition, Weight Management and Obesity, Oncology Nutrition, Renal Nutrition and Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday 8 am to 3:30 pm
