Job Summary: Provide patient care and continuity of service delivered to patients with various cardiology problems. Performing a health status assessment of the patient that includes a health history, a physical examination, and a systematic recording of the data. Ordering, performing or interpreting selected procedures and laboratory examinations. Providing telephone consultation and triage. Discriminating between normal and abnormal findings and making appropriate referrals to the physician for evaluation and/or supervision. Initiating appropriate treatment modalities in prescribing medications, assistive devices, and other equipment. Teaching, counseling, and assisting the patient and family in meeting health needs, making referrals to other health professionals and agencies as required. Act as a consultant to patient care staff within the area and provides consultation to other areas in the hospital upon request. Assists in the clinical orientation of medical students, interns, and residents to the routines and policies utilized in patient management. Selects and provides resource materials for interested staff. Maintains own clinical expertise through academic and clinical endeavors.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required (NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice). Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire (eligibility criteria for NP requires National Certification through AANP or ANCC, and Master's Degree) (eligibility criteria for PA requires graduation from an accredited PA program and National Certification through NCCPA). Initial certification must be present or obtained within 6 months of hire. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

FNP certification preferred; BSN/Masters preferred.  A minimum of two (2) years of experience, preferably in electrophysiology, non-invasive cardiology or adult medicine.
